Govt implementing progs for welfare of visual impaired people

State Minister for Social Welfare Advocate Promod Mankin said the government has been implementing a number of programmes for the welfare of the country’s visual impaired people.
“You must not be disappointed for your vision impairment because the Prime Minister herself is careful about your welfare and the social welfare ministry has been working under the Prime Minister’s guidance for your welfare,” said the state minister on Thursday while speaking at the discussion meeting here.
The Department of Social Services (DSS) organized the programme in observance of the World White Cane Safety Day 2015. Director General of the DSS Gazi Mohammad Nurul Kabir presided over the discussion while social welfare ministry secretary Tariq-Ul-Islam, Dr Md Golam Rabbani, Begum Nasrin Ara Surat Amin, Md Saidul Haq and Md Zulfiker Haider, among others, addressed it.
Earlier, a colorful rally was brought out in the city as part of the day’s programmes. White cane was distributed among the visual impaired people. During the programme Bangladesh blind cricket team was given reception for becoming joint-champion in the Tri-Banga International Blind Cricket Tournament held in India organized by Visual Impaired Cricket Association of Bengal.
