Govt implemented 24 clauses only out of 72 in CHT Peace Accord: Larma

Parbatya Chattogram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) President Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma alias Santu larma on Sunday alleged that the government has implemented 24 clauses only out of 72 clauses of the Chattogram Hill Tracts Peace Accord.

Peace Accord have been implemented,” Santu Larma said in a press conference in a city hotel on the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of signing the treaty.
Santu Larma claimed that of the 72 clauses of the accord, 24 clauses only have been implemented, 14 partially realised, and the rest 34 have remained totally untouched.
He accused the government of continuously breaching the treaty clauses.
“The government did not take any effective measure to implement the CHT accord fully though they have been in power for the last 11 years,” he said.
The CHT leader said, “The government is conspiring to wipe out the existence of indigenous community and CHT accord. The indigenous communities of CHT are frustrated, disappointed and angry at the present status of the treaty.”
Santu Larma said also that they want to do whatever needed to implement the peace accord, as they have no other alternative.
He also said that the problems in the Chittagong Hill Tracts would not end without implementing the treaty.
PCJSS Education and Cultural Secretary U Win Mong Jolly, Bangladesh Adibasi Forum President Snajeeb Drong, and Oikya NAP President Pankaj Bhattacharjee, among others, were present at the conference.
