Govt gives priority to quality edn: Minister

Planning Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal said the government is giving highest priority to qualitative and technical education to turn the country’s manpower into human resources.
“Actually, the government considers the investment in education sector as the return of future,” he said this on Saturday while addressing a seminar on “Education, Culture and Civilization of Japan” in Comilla.
Shaherbanu Ideal School, Prajuktipith and Munsi Zinnat Ali Welfare Trust organised the seminar. Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Shiro Shado Shima and Nurul Islam Milon, Member of Parliament from the local constituency, also spoke on the occasion.
Praising different initiatives of Japan as the development partner of Bangladesh, the Planning Minister hoped the Japanese government would play an effective role towards achieving the country’s desired GPD growth through effectual investment on education and human resources.
Shiro Shado Shima said Japan has become a developed country mainly for prioritising its education sector and the country had appointed 3,000 teachers on different subjects from various countries in 19th century with the same salary of the then Prime Minister.
Mentioning Bangladesh’s growth in last few years as satisfactory, the Japanese envoy said: “Bangladesh is now attracting all big economies in the globe.”
Alongside moving in Europe and America for the readymade garments, he advised Bangladesh to look forward on the market of east.
