Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said the government has attached its highest priority for expansion of education across the country to expedite the development process.
“Education is an important tool to boost development process in all sectors,” he said this while speaking at a seminar on “Current education system of Bangladesh: Teachers community” in the auditorium of Eden Mohila College in the city.
Education, Research and Welfare Centre organized the seminar.
Emeritus Professor M Anisuzzman of Dhaka University, President of World Federation of Teachers Union Prof Mahfuza Kanam, Principal of Eden Mohila College Prof Gaytree Chaterjee, teachers and researchers, among others, addressed the seminar with President of the welfare centre Prof Ayesha Begum in the chair.
Nahid said, “Teachers are main force in the education secto …. So, they (teachers) have to play a key role in imparting education.”
The government has trained teachers to improve their efficiency aiming to ensure their better contribution to education, he added.
