Govt gives highest priority to wellbeing of BD expatriates: FM

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali has reiterated that the present government attached highest priority to the wellbeing of the expatriate Bangladesh nationals who are making enormous contribution to the buoyancy of the country’s economy. He made the remark while visiting the Consulate General of Bangladesh in New York on Wednesday, said a Foreign Ministry media release issued on Thursday.
Mahmood Ali urged the officials concerned to render services in respective fields with more devotion and assured them of all-out support from the Foreign Ministry.
He highlighted the policy priorities of the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The Foreign Minister said digitalization of consular services under the present government has significantly helped in rendering services more expeditiously and efficiently.
Consul General M Shameem Ahsan briefly narrated the activities of the Mission and expressed the Mission’s gratefulness for the continued support from the government.
Mahmood Ali deeply appreciated the Mission officials for their dedicated services despite logistical and other constraints and assured them of extending all-out support from his Ministry. The Minister later went round different sections of the Consulate and interacted with the Mission officials.
He also enquired about the wellbeing of the Bangladesh nationals who were present at the Consulate to receive services.
The Foreign Minister was accompanied by his wife, Shaheen Ali. Bangladesh Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dr Abdul Momen, Deputy Permanent Representative Mustafzur Rahman and senior officials/delegates from the government were, among others, present.
The Foreign Minister is currently leading a delegation from
Bangladesh to attend the UN High level Meeting under UNGA on ‘Culture of Peace’.
