The present government with dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given top priority to skill development education for transforming the youth community into competent workforce.
The government has been implementing diversified programmes to enrich the field of skilled manpower for the sake of boosting production.
The observation came at a seminar titled ‘World Skills Competition- 2019’ at conference hall of Deputy Commissioner in Rajshahi on Monday.
Commissioner of Rajshahi division Nur-Ur-Rahman addressed the seminar as chief guest with Deputy Commissioner SM Abdul Kader in the chair. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Shalahudddin moderated the discussion.
Principal of Rajshahi Mohila Polytechnic Institute Omor Faruque presented a concept paper on the issue. He told the seminar that 45th World Skills Competition will be held at Kazan in Russia from August 29 to September 3, 2019 to be hosted by World Skills International. Bangladesh will take part in the competition for the first time.
Prior to this, eight divisional and one national competition will be held in the country for preparation and scrutinize the competitors.
Commissioner Rahman said the country needs more skilled human resources.
The government has given priority to the skill based education and implementing programmes to generate skilled human resources.
He added the government has put emphasis on turning the youths into skilled human resources.
Rahman said there is no alternative to boosting competent workforce for bolstering the country’s economy. So, entities concerned should come forward and work together to supplement the government endeavor.
Representatives of various trades like construction and building technology, creative arts and fashion designing, information and communication technology, manufacturing and engineering technology and social and personal took part in the seminar.
