Jatiya Sangsad Deputy Speaker M Fazle Rabbi Mian said the present government is doing a lot for the development of people with disabilities.
Separate allocations have been made in the new budget for children and people with disabilities, he said this on Saturday while speaking as the chief guest at a workshop at the Daily Star Centre in the city.
Bangladesh Visually Impaired Peoples’ Society (VIPS) organized the workshop with financial assistance of European Union and Sight Savers to ensure representation of challenged people in all levels of local government and national parliament.
The deputy speaker said the government has a made a new law to ensure rights and facilities of the physically challenged people.
He assured all cooperation to implement the demands of the challenged people after scrutiny. VIPS General Secretary Nazma Ara Begum Popy presented a keynote paper. Abul Kalam Azad, MP, and Kazi Rosy, MP, also spoke at the workshop, among others.
