Govt filing false cases against BNP men: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday accused the government of filing imaginary cases against the BNP leaders and workers.
 “The government continues to file fabricated and imaginary cases against the BNP leaders and the activists,” the BNP Secretary General said it in a statement after the arrest of Hasan Mahmud Sabuj, Organising Secretary of Feni district unit Sechchhasebak Dal.
He said, “The government is trying to destroy the BNP and other opposition parties by snatching freedom of speech and human rights. To fulfil the designs they are everyday arresting the leaders and the activists of the opposition parties and filing cases after cases against them.”
He accused the government of trying to cling to the power forever. He alleged that Hasan Mahmud Sabuj became the victim of the government’s political vengeance and he should be released immediately.

In a separate programme BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan on Sunday said that the women of Bangladesh are now leading a very uncertain life.
 “The government often claims that it has been relentlessly working to protect the women’s rights, but the reality is that they (women) are now in vulnerable position in the society,” said the BNP leader while addressing a discussion meeting marking the Rokeya Day in Bhasani Bhaban at Naya Paltan. Jatiyatabadi Mahila Dal organised the Programme.
Afroja Abbas, the President of the organisation, presided over the programme. BNP Chairperson’s advisory council member Professor Tajmeri S Islam, BNP Special Secretary Asaduzzaman Khan, central leader Nure Ara Safa, Sultana Ahmed and Helen Jerin Khan, among others, were present.
