UNB, Dhaka :Condemning the murder of an Italian citizen here, BNP senior leader Moyeen Khan on Tuesday said the government itself has been the victim of the fear of bugbear of communalism it has been showing people.”We know the government has tried to make gains from the western world by showing the fear of bugbear of communalism and extremism. Though they’ve got some benefits by showing such fear, finally it’ll be its victim. Yesterday (Monday) evening’s incident is one of its instances,” he said.Bangladesh Buddhists Front arranged the discussion at the Jatiya Press Club, marking the Ramu Tragedy Day.Miscreants gunned down Italian citizen Cesare Tavella, 50, on Monday evening in the city’s Gulshan area.Moyeen, a BNP standing committee members, regretted that Tavella has become a victim of the country’s decaying social system. He alleged that the government has dug a canal for their opponents by spreading propaganda of religious extremism, but the regime itself has now fallen in the ditch dug by it.Mentioning that the government sometimes triggers untoward incidents in a bid to misguide people, the BNP leader also suspected that it might have link to the incident to divert people’s attention to a different direction.Moyeen alleged that government has destroyed the country by establishing a one-party rule obliterating democracy, the rule of law and human rights. “It can’t be continued for a long time.”He alleged that though the government utters secularism but it does not practice it. “They attack the minority people and grab their land. “The minority people have been badly affected and attacked during Awami League’s rule since 1971.”
