UNB, Chittagong :
President of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury on Friday said the government has failed to deliver on all fronts and implement its election pledges.
Speaking at a discussion, he also said the Prime Minister’s statistics about the incidents of enforced disappearance in developed countries is not appropriate.”The current government is plunderer one.
It’s failed miserably to check question paper leakage, corruption, drug abuse, and enforced disappearances and deal with Rohingya issue,” the BDB chief said.
“What type of government it is which can’t check question paper leakage? Question paper leakage is a matter of shame for us. It’ll contribute to the rise in corruption trend,” he added.
Bangladesh Jana Dal arranged the programme at the Jatiya Press Club, marking its founding anniversary.
About Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s remark on enforced disappearance in developed countries, the BDB chief said, “Enforced disappearance takes places in other countries, but the difference is that the perpetrators are arrested and the missing people rescued there. In our country, neither the missing people are rescued nor their bodies recovered.”
Earlier on Thursday, the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said in parliament that the incidents of forced disappearance are not only taking place in Bangladesh, but also in developed countries.
She said some 2.75 lakh Britons were subjected to forced disappearances while some 20,000 still missing.” When it comes to America, the situation is more horrible.”
B Chowdhury, also a former president, said criminals and killers do not get punished in the country due to the failure of the law enforcers in discharging their duties.
He opposed the fresh power price hike decision, and asked the government to explain the reason behind the move.
The BDB chief also urged the government to make public the Rohingya repatriation instrument signed with Myanmar.
