Organising Secretary of BNP central committee and General Secretary of Chittagong City BNP Dr Shahdat Hossain said govt has recently launches mass arrest campaign in the country in the name of curbing militancy in the country.
He said govt failed to curb militancy and in the name of anti-militant drives about 14 thousand innocents and leaders , workers of the opposition parties were arrested.
He said through arrest and thereafter tortures, govt trying to establish one party rule in the country.
He disclosed it while addressing the protest rally against the mass arrest held at party’s Nasimon Bhaban office in the city on Saturday jointly organized by BNP and its front organizations as a part of central committee decisions.
 City BNP vice president Abu Sufian presided over it. Dr.Shahdat said defying the recent high court verdict against section 54, thousands of opposition leaders and workers are being arrested during the drives recently, which is not desirable in a democratic country.
Central Asstt Organizing Secretary of BNP Mahbubur Rahman Shamim and Abul Hashem Bakkar were the special guests in it Other senior leaders o f the city Unit spoke on the occasion, a sources said.
