Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq on Saturday said the present government under the competent leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina places great significance on alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
“Apart from the Arbitration Act 2001, in the last few years some other laws have also incorporated provisions of ADR. For instance, mediation has been made mandatory in 2010 prior to holding hearing in an appropriate court by amending the Money Loan Court Act 2003.
The Code of Civil Procedure 1908, introduced mediation and made it mandatory prior to hearing in the court,” he said. The minister said these while addressing the BIAC’s 8th Anniversary Seminar on “Effective ADR Process to Resolve Financial Disputes for a Sustainable Financial Sector” at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel here in the capital.
