The government has distributed a total of 15,88,803 blankets among the cold-hit people across the country at the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of respective districts have distributed the blankets and over 9,00,000 more blankets are yet to be distributed, Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) sources said.
Blankets were distributed on priority basis in extreme cold-prone areas of the country, including the northern region, Chattogram Hill Tracts and the areas where tea labors reside, as per the directive of the premier.
A total of 51,600 blankets were distributed in Dinajpur, 25,800 in Thakurgaon, 21,200 in Panchagarh, 35,000 in Kurigram, 29,500 in Nilphamari, 21,700 in Lalmonirhat, 51,600 in Rangpur, 39,100 in Gaibandha, 22,600 in Chapainawabganj, 32,700 in Gopalganj, 17,100 in Joypurhat, 47,000 in Naogaon, 53,400 in Rajshahi, 27,600 in Natore, 38,200 in Pabna, 59400 in Tangail, 55200 in Bogura, 41,400 in Sirajganj, 35,900 in Bagerhat, 42,400 in Sunamganj, 36800 in Satkhira, 38700 in Habiganj, 20,700 in Chuadanga, 19,400 in Narail, 46,500 in Jashore, 33,200 in Moulvibazar, 9,200 in Meherpur, 53,400 in Kishoreganj, 62,600 in Sylhet, 33,600 in Jhenaidah, 35,000 in Jamalpur, 25,800 in Sherpur, 46,500 in Khulna, 17,100 in Magura, 32,700 in Kushtia, 41,900 in Netrokona, 25,300 in Pirojpur, 86,500 in Mymensingh, 21,200 in Barguna, 16,100 in Bandarban, 18,900 in Khagrachhari, 56,600 in Barishal, 24,000 in Rangamati and 34,500 in Cox’s Bazar.
