Govt determined to establish rule of law

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said the government is determined to establish the rule of law and uphold the fundamental and human rights of the people in the country through maintaining law and order and curbing militancy and terrorism. The minister made the assertion in the Jatiya Sangsad on Monday while replying to a question from treasury bench member Begum Hazera Khatun. The minister said police and other law enforcement agencies are working relentlessly to ensure security of the people and their properties. “All the law enforcement agencies including the police have been directed to bring all kinds of militancy, anarchism and the people linked with violence under legal procedure and take necessary legal actions against them,” he said. Asaduzzaman Khan told the House that the Bangladesh Police have undertaken various necessary measures to keep the law and order under control along with curbing terrorist activities.
He said the police have been carrying out regular and special drives to arrest all kinds of terrorists, extortionists, convicts, and persons facing arrest warrants and accused. The law enforcers have also been carrying out operations to recover illegal arms, ammunition and drugs. The government has also strengthened community policing management aimed for creating awareness about all kinds of violent and destructive activities and preventing violence through holding meetings with local public representatives regularly, the minister added.
