The BNP on Wednesday accused the government of hathcing conspiracy to kill the party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia gradually.
“The government has kept the former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia in an uninhabitable and abandoned prison in old Dhaka. She has been deprived also of proper treatment and consultation with personal physicians. It makes it clear that the government does not want Begum Khaleda Zia to recover and to survive fatal diseases,” said BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi addressing a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central office.
Rizvi said, the government medical board has carried out the pathological test of Khaleda Zia. It includes few blood test and x-ray only.
“If the medical team conducts MRI and other modern lab tests, they might get the real picture of her health condition,” the BNP leader said.
He accused the Election Commission of holding another one-sided polls like January 5 in 2014.
“The EC’s unwillingness to include the Army under the definition of law enforcement agency in its draft amendment of Representation of the People Order (RPO) is a sign of another one-sided polls,” he said.
The BNP leader said that most of the political parties, including BNP, intellectuals and civil society members recommended to the EC during the dialogue with it (EC) for deployment of army in the coming national polls.
He said that the government took the step to shut down the way for deployment of Army in polls.
He termed the EC’s move to consider army as law enforcers are politically motivated and anti-constitutional initiative.
The Senior Joint-Secretary General also condemned the ruling Awami League for indecent remarks about the protestors and the movement for reforming the quota system. He said that the movement was purely of students. However, the government initiated efforts to mislead people by raising questions about who are inspiring the agitators and who are doing it. He came down hard on Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury for branding the agitators as Rajakars’ children, saying it is her tactic to confuse people.
Rizvi also accused the Chhatra League activists of brutally repressing the demonstrators at different residential halls of Dhaka Universality in the last few days.
He strongly protested and condemned the act.
