‘Govt committed to ensure nutritious and safe food’

Agriculture Minister Dr Md Abdur Razzaque said that the government is committed to ensuring nutritious and safe food for the country’s people.
“We are committed to ensuring nutritious and safe food for the people of the country. Food security is a pre-requisite for transforming young generation into human resources to build a developed and prosperous country in the future. We will work in this regard,” he said.
Razzaque came up with the remarks on Saturday at a function organized to give official recognition to Tangail as a cent percent ‘Scout District’ at Shaheed Smriti Poura Udyan in Tangail, said a press release.
Tangail Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shahidul Islam presided over the function addressed, among others, by Chief National Commissioner of Bangladesh Scouts and Commissioner of Anti Corruption Commission Dr Md Mozammel Haque Khan, district Awami League President and District Council Chairman Fazlur Rahman Khan Faruq and Sanwar Hossain, MP.
Dubbing Bangladesh as a role model in the world in food grains production, the minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given the highest importance to the agriculture sector.
