Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim said the government is committed to ensure healthcare for women to guarantee their fundamental human rights.
“The government has established community clinics across the country to reach healthcare to the doorsteps of people. Women are the maximum beneficiaries of these clinics,” he said this on Sunday while addressing a national convention’s plenary session on “Role of Women Rights and Healthcare to Ensure Basic Human Rights and Poverty Alleviation” at Shawkat Osman auditorium at the Department of Public Libraries in the city.
Chairperson of All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Human Rights, Jatiya Sangsad Dr Dipu Moni chaired the function while State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze Chumki, lawmakers Makbul Hossain, Begum Sanjida Khanam and Shirin Akhter addressed it, among others.
Nasim called upon the womenfolk to make their strides for achieving successes in different fields for the betterment of the country.
“Since the AL government assumed office, it has been promoting women empowerment. Women and men should contribute equally to the society,” he said, adding that time-befitting women education is a must to this end.
The minister said the government’s time befitting steps have made possible the presence of women in large number in every profession.
He said the role of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in women empowerment will be remembered forever in the history of Bangladesh.
