Govt committed for reasonable pay scale: Farashuddin

Pay Commission Chairman Dr Farashuddin Ahmed has said the government of this public welfare state is committed to ensure a reasonable pay scale for the government officials and employees.
The pay commission has been working sincerely as per government’s positive view in preparing recommendations considering salary discrimination and minimum requirement of the officials and employees before submitting the same to the government, he said.
Dr Ahmed said this while sharing views with local media at Circuit House auditorium here in the city on Thursday night as a part of his divisional level views-sharing programme on the issue.
Pay Commission Members including former Secretary Abul Kashem, Sheikh Khurshid Alam, Member-secretary and Additional Secretary Ehsanul Haque, Deputy Secretary Deen Mohammad, Majibar Rahman, Mohammad Shahabuddin, Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur Farid Ahammad, Rangpur Press Club President AKM Fazlul Haque and its General Secretary Wadud Ali and President of Rangpur City Press Club Shakil Ahmed were present.
The Pay Commission Chairman said the commission has been considering the cost of living of a six-member family while fixing the new salaries to prepare and submit a report with recommendations on salary hike of government officials and employees.
He discussed issues like inflation, the government’s financial position and said reports of pay commissions of different countries and previous pay commissions in Bangladesh are also being taken into consideration while preparing a suitable report.
Increasing salaries and other benefits of the government officials and employees would definitely enhance their efficiency and productivity, establish transparency and help in curbing dishonesty among them, he said.
