BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday claimed the Awami League will not be able to stay in power for three days if a national unity is formed.
“A national unity is a must to bring the people in a platform. We have already started efforts to form a national unity. If we will success in this effort, the government cannot survive in power in three days,” he said this while addressing a protest meeting at the National Press Club in the city.
Fakhrul expressed the hope that the efforts will be successful.
“The UN Secretary General should visit Bangladesh not only to see Rohingyas but also to watch the conditions of all Bangladeshis. Because, all of the Bangladeshis have transformed into refugees for the misrules of this government,” the BNP leader said.
Fakhrul said all quarters have become concerned that such situation of the country should not be allowed to continue and there should be a national unity for changing such situation.
The programme was organised by Sultan Salauddin Tuku Mukti Parishad for unconditional release of imprisoned BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal General Secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku.
Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal Senior Vice-President Khandaker Mortazul Karim Badru presided over the programme.
BNP Standing Committee Members Mirza Abbas and Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Vice-Chairman Barkatullah Bulu, among others, spoke on the occasion.
