The government on Thursday banned carrying passengers on motorbikes aiming to prevent subversive activities during the ongoing political violence across the country and ensure public safety. Road Transport and Highways Division issued an order signed by deputy secretary Mehdi Hasan in this regard. “It has been noticed some miscreants have been carrying out bomb attacks on vehicles and subversive activities using motorbikes. The government has banned carrying passengers or companions on motorbikes under the Motor Vehicles Ordinance, 1983 to prevent such violence and subversive acts,“ the order said. It said the ban will remain in force until further order.
