UNB, Dhaka :BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Monday night said the current regime awaits a severe public wrath for its growing misdeeds and widespread corruption.”They (govt) are saying we’ve lost ground beneath our feet, but the fact is that our position is very strong. It’s they who have lost the ground beneath their feet and their condition has turned very fragile,” she told a views-exchanging meeting.Khaleda further said, “People are aware of all the misdeeds this government has committed since 2009. People will give it a tremendous thrashing after its fall and we’ll have to do nothing against it.”As part of her party’s mass campaign to mobilise public opinion in favour of their demand for holding a fresh election under a non-party administration, the BNP chief exchanged views with BNP-backed upazila chairmen, vice chairmen and municipality mayors of Khulna and Barisal divisions.Earlier, she had separate view-exchange meetings with the BNP-blessed local body representatives of Rajshahi and Chittagong divisions.Khaleda Zia alleged that Awami League has link with militants and it patronises them. “Militancy in the country had emerged during their previous rule. They promote militancy in the name of containing it. So, the country is not safe in their hands.”Accusing the government of indulging in widespread corruption, Khaleda said though the current regime is protecting the corrupt Awami men through the Anti Corruption Commission, one day they’ll have to face trial. “I want to tell them that it’ll be simply pointless to give them impunity by enacting laws. Those who have plundered public money and property must be punished one day.” Sharply reacting to the Prime Minister’s remarks that there will be no talks with BNP describing its leaders as killers, the former Prime Minister said, “Ask her (Hasina) who are around her-left and right-they all are killers. Ershad is a killer and Inu is no exception.”Voicing her strong determination that there will be a general election under a non-party administration soon, Khaleda asked her party men to work together sincerely and make the party stronger so that it can win the polls.
