UK-based development agency Sightsavers and the country’s actors today urged the government to vaccinate the disable people with COVID-19 vaccine on priority basis.
Amrita Rejina Rozario, Country Director of Sightsavers Bangladesh Country Office, said the Bangladesh government took the COVID-19 vaccination programme a few months ago but it was halted due to inadequate supply of vaccines.
But, she said, the persons with disability should get priority in the ongoing inoculation programme and their inclusion into the programme is an urgent now.
Actress Zakia Bari Mamo and actor Dr Azazul Islam called upon the government to give priority to the persons with disability in vaccination.
They also asked the disabled people to take COVID-19 vaccines, a press release said.
