The government has allotted 7,891 tonnes of rice under Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme to distribute among poor and distressed people of Mymensingh district on the occasion of Eid- ul-Fitr.
District Relief and Rehabilitation (DRRO) office sources said, Under the programme the rice will be distributed among 789,167 VGF cardholders. Each cardholder will get 10 kgs of rice before Eid-ul-Fitr.
Distribution of rice has already started in some upazilas of the district sources said.
The DRRO office sources said as per government instruction the selection of the beneficiaries has completed earlier under the supervision of the upazila Project Implementation Office (PIO).
Official sources said of the total rice, 390 tonnes will be distributed in Dobaura upazila, 1,180 in Fulpur, 663 tonnes in Ishwargonj , 562 tonnes in Gouripur, 696 tonnes in Nandail, 768 tonnes in Phulbaria upazila, 496 tonnes in Haluaghat, 691 tonnes in muktagacha , 673 tonnes in Trishal, 663 tonnes in Gafargeon, 630 tonnes in Bhaluka and 473 tonnes in sadar upazila.
