The Shipping Ministry has asked the countrymen not to buy any plot or flat constructed by real estate companies river banks.
The concerned ministry issued a press release in this regard on Tuesday.
“Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) under the supervision of Shipping Ministry is removing illegal structures from the river banks in Dhaka.
During the drives from 2010-2019, the BIWTA has evicted 17,901 illegal structures on the banks of rivers
Buriganga, Turag, Shitalakkhya, Dhaleshwari and Balu, and recovered 669.18 acres of land from the grabbers,” said the press release.
“During the drive, the authorities observed that many private housing societies had llegally occupied the lands of rivers and deceived their clients allocating plots and flats on those occupied land.
So, the ministry asked all not to buy any plot or flat established on the riverbanks, said the press release.
