UNB, Dhaka :
BNP on Thursday alleged that the entire world is having an impression that Bangladesh has been turning into a militant country only because of the government’s questionable activities in eliminating extremism.
Speaking at a discussion, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also accused the government of staging new dramas over militancy issue. Doctors’
Association of Bangladesh (DAB) arranged the programme at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU), marking BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman’s 11th imprisonment day. “The US has identified three countries-Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh-as vulnerable (to terror attacks). Bangladeshis are now facing problems in getting visas of foreign countries. Many of those (Bangladeshis) who went to Singapore for work are being forced to return home. What’s the reason behind it?” Fakhrul questioned.
He further said, “Their (foreigners’) aim is to indentify Bangladesh as a militant state. The entire world is getting an impression that Bangladesh is turning into a militant state due to our government’s hyper activities. You (govt) are not specifically investigating the incidents for which you’re arresting people. New dramas are now being staged for a few days over militancy issue.”
The BNP leader said the first drama in the name of attacking police by militants was tagged in Tongi while another one in Comilla. “Militants attacked (police) in Comilla, and a big picture of the incident was published (in newspapers). Is it possible to take such a photograph within a short moment?”
