Government to recognise Walton Private Hi-Tech Park: Palak

Junaid Ahmed Palak, state minister for Information and Communication Technology, has assured that the government will consider declaring the Walton Hi-Tech Industries (WHIL) as private Hi-Tech Park in line with the rules and regulations of government’s Hi-Tech Park guidelines.
He also assured of providing all the privileges of Hi-Tech Park to the WHIL.
Palak made the assurance while briefing the media after visiting different production units of the WHIL, especially refrigerator, air conditioner, television and motorcycle units, and the display centre at Chandra in Gazipur on Thursday. The state minister also inaugurated the Walton’s E-commerce site as the chief guest.
While Palak reached the WHIL premises at Thursday evening, the higher officials of the Walton Group welcomed him through presenting a flower bouquet. During the event, Gazipur District Administrator SM Alam, Walton Group’s Directors SM Rezaul Alam Shamim and Manzurul Alam Ovi, Executive Director Abul Bashar Hawlader, Operative Directors Uday Hakim, Lieutenant Col (Retd.) Abdul Kader, Col (Retd.) SM Shahadat Alam (Walton Microtech) and other high officials of the company.
During the event, Walton also presented a video documentation highlighting the production processes of its different products.
Speaking at the event, Junaid Ahmed Palak said, “Walton has turned into our national proud.”
The local company has achieved tremendous popularity at home and abroad by manufacturing world-class consumer based electronics products, he said.
“Making investment in the country’s ICT sector, Walton has set an example before the country’s youth and its successful stories would be followed by other entrepreneurs of this sector,” he added.
“Nowadays, Walton is not only a private organisation of country, it also turned into a national proud,” the state minister pointed out.
In the near future, Walton brand will reflect a positive image of Bangladesh in the global market, Palak hoped.
The local company has already created employment opportunities for about 15,000 people, he said and expressed his hope that it would employ nearly one lakh people by 2021.
He also assured of providing all kinds of government cooperation to Walton for moving ahead further.
Dwelling on the opening of E-commerce site, Walton Sr. Additional Director (IT) Ariful Ambia said the site was opened so that the buyers can easily purchase Walton brand’s products through online without going to the company’s outlets.
