The nine months stay in India of our political leaders changed our hope for peaceful democratic politics into criminal activities. Awami League forgot its founding ideals and it became a revolutionary party of believing in politics of terror and disappearances. It appears that they went to India to come back forgetting our politics and our struggle for democracy and the law. Our leaders have become strangers, unrecognisable by our people.
The culture of political immunity in revolutionary made recurrence of incidents like brutal attacks, secret killings, enforced disappearances, extra-judicial killings, and murder after rape against women has often been occurring in the country.
After the crimes the ministers assured that the criminals will be brought under control, means they will be arrested. Because the law is the wish of the government and the courts are no courts free and fair. Everything is revolutionary. The courts are expected to be part of the government. The people have no faith in police. In political cases the judiciary is helpless. The judges have to think their jobs and fear the torture and even disappearance.
Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wahida Khanam and her father were seriously injured in an attack by unidentified criminals at her official residence in the upazila complex on Wednesday night. She was brutally hit on her head and was rushed to the National Institute of Neuroscience and Hospital (NINH) in capital Dhaka from Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) as her condition deteriorated. In the meantime, Wahida has partially gained consciousness after a surgery on her brain on Thursday night.
Now many people will be arrested according to convenience of the police. Some Jubo League leaders and members were also arrested. Crimes will go on as the government needs them for revolutionary politics of terror. So there should be end to the revolutionary politics of no law and no punishment for government backed criminals.
