AP, Harare :
Zimbabwe cricket officials were meeting to try and save a tour to Pakistan after their government advised it was not safe to travel there.
Zimbabwe Cricket initially said on Thursday it was canceling the tour – due to start next week – because of safety concerns, then retracted that statement, and said discussions “were still ongoing.”
Zimbabwe has been advised by its foreign ministry not to go, after 45 people were killed on Wednesday in an attack by gunmen on a bus in Pakistan’s southern port city of Karachi.
Before Wednesday’s attack, Zimbabwe agreed to become the first test nation to tour Pakistan since 2009, when Sri Lanka’s cricket team was shot at in a gun attack on its bus in another city, Lahore.
