Gournadi BNP leader sent to jail

Barishal District (North ) BNP convening committee member HM Rafiqul Islam Kajal has been sent to jail after surrendering before Barishal court as an accused of killing one person while making a bomb in a tin house adjacent to Faria Garden and attacking, vandalizing and looting a public temple in Gournadi upazila of Barishal.
Advocate Kazi Bellal Hossain, lawyer of HM Rafiqul Islam Kajal, said Kajal surrendered to the Barishal Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday afternoon. But the judge denying to grant bail ordered to sent the accused to Barishal Central Jail.
Gournadi Police Station OC Afzal Hossain said HM Rafiqul Islam Kajal was the accused in the case of killing a craftsman in an explosion while making a bomb in a tin house at Faria Garden in south Madra village of Barthi Union under Gournadi upazila on December 4.
Besides, there is a case of sabotage against Kajal for vandalizing public Durga temple and Hari temple and idol in Gournadi police station. Barisal District North BNP convening committee member HM Rafiqul Islam Kajal complained to reporters before surrendering to the court , said Juba League leaders and activists were involved in the bomb making. They have suffered casualties. However, the police have accused me and BNP leader Shaheen of political harassment.
Denying the allegations made by BNP leader Rafiqul Islam Kajal, the plaintiff of the case and Sub-Inspector (SI) of Gournadi Police Station Imam Hossain said that those involved in the incident have been charged as per the confessional statement given by Abdur Rahman Mir who was arrested on December 5. Allegations of harassment are not true.
