Gouripur Free Day was celebrated on Thursday with various programmes held in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district on Thursday(December 8). On December 8, 1971 the upazila was freed from the clutches of the Pakistani occupation forces and their collaborators. Muktijudda Sangsad Gouripur unit and many cultural groups organised a daylong programme to celebrate the day.
Marking the day a Doa Mahfil for late freedom fighters and the martyrs was also held at Harun Park, Gouripur attended by Freedom Fighter Alhaj Nazim Uddin Ahmed MP with others- freedom fighters, political leaders, journalists, poets and educationalists..
