Gouripur Free Day was celebrated on Tuesday with various programme held in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district. On December 8, 1971 the upazila was freed from the clutches of the Pakistani occupation forces and their collaborators. Muktijudda Sangsad Gouripur unit and many cultural groups organised a daylong programme to celebrate the day.
A Doa Mahfil for late freedom fighters and the martyrs was also held at Gouripur Municipl Muktijudda Graveyard attended by Freedom Fighter Dr. Capt. (Retd.) Alhajj Mujibur Rahman Fakir MP, former State Minister for Health and Family Welfare with others- freedom fighters, political leaders, journalists, poets and educationalists to mark the day.
