Google, the internet-based search engine service, has responded to a request of Bangladesh government to provide information of its users related with anti-social campaign.
Google had responded the request on ’emergency discloser request’ and ‘legal request’, the transparency report of Google said on Wednesday.
According to the report, the Bangladesh government has requested the largest Internet search engine provider to share the information of its users, which the Google has responded positively. Bangladesh asked for information about four accounts in three requests at first phase, which the Google did not respond positively on privacy reason. But, it responded positively to the second call where information about nine accounts was asked in four requests.
Google is receiving this sort of request more frequently than before. It received more than 46, 000 requests in the last half of the year in 2015 where information about 81,000 accounts were sought. The United State has asked for the highest number of accounts followed by Germany, France and the UK.
Meanwhile, Facebook and Microsofts also responded to requests. Facebook’s half-yearly ‘Government Request Report’ in April showed that it had responded the request from Bangladesh for the first time.
Between July and December last year, the government had sought information of 31 Facebook users. The report said it had responded 16.67 percent of the requests.
