Rail communications of Chittagong with other parts of the country after three compartments of a goods train derailed at Fouzderhat in city yesterday.
A traffic department official of Railway East Zone Firoj Ahmed told that a container laden Chittagong bound container train veered off the track around 11 am that halted the rail communications. A rescue train from pahartali rushed to the spot to resume the train communications, he added. After removal of the compartments from track, the rail service resumes from 3 pm , sources said. The reasons for derailment of the train could not be ascertained till writing this report.
