Miscreants has torched a goods-laden truck in the rubber garden area of Dighinala-Marishya Road on early Monday.
The victims have blamed the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF), a regional organization led by Prasit Khisa.
The Truck driver Md. Farid, 35, said , he was going to Marishya from Chattogram with goods and other products for grocery shops. While reaching the rubber garden area at around 6am, some youths blocking the truck with arms. Later they torched the truck by petrol and they fled.
Getting the news, a team of Fire Service rescue workers and Security forces went to the spot and brought the fire under control. But all the products in the truck were burnt down. This truck had about Tk 10 lakh worth of products, he added.
Truck owner former Commissioner of Baghaichhari municipality Md. Ali said, “UPDF terrorists torched my truck due to non-payment of their demand.”
Businessman of Marishya Bazar Shahab Uddin said, “Terrorists were demanding huge amount of money from traders long time.”
When try to connect UPDF’s media cell chief Niran Chakma for his comment over the issue, but the cell phone found off.
