Good start for Bangladesh in World Chess Olympiad

Bangladesh teams in open and women’s section won their 1st round matches in the 41st World Chess Olympiad now being held in Tromso, Norway.
Bangladesh Open team beat Zimbabwe by 3-1 points while women’s team defeated Ghana by 4-0 points in their respective matches.
In open section, GM Abdullah Al Rakib beat IM Mandizha Farai, IM Minhazuddin Ahmed Sagar beat Masango Spencer and GM Niaz Murshed beat Mushore Emarald Takudzwa of Zimbabwe while GM
Enamul Hossain Razib lost to IM Makoto Rodwell.
In the women’s section, WIM Shamima Akter Liza beat Sena Sarah, WFM Nazrana Khan beat Allotey Dorcas, WIM Rani Hamid beat Ayiku Angela Naa Amerley and WFM Zakia Sultana beat Ashley Christiana of Ghana. A total of 177 countries in open section and 136 in women’s section are taking part in the event.
