Inspector General of Police (IGP) A K M Shahidul Hoque on Thursday directed the police department not to include controversial people in community policing.”Good people are needed for a healthy and stable nation,” the IGP told a gathering of community policing at Laldigi Maidan here .
Urging the police personnel for raising awareness against early marriage, eve teasing and offences, he said the policemen must discharge their duties with honesty and neutrality without any fear and favour.Former Mayor and President of Chittagong City Awami League A B M Mohiuddin Chowdhury, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police, Chittagong range, Sahfiqul Islam, CMP Commissioner Iqbal Bahar, coordinator of Chittagong city community policing Dev Das Chakrovorti, Superintendent of Police, Chittagong district, Nur-e-Alam Mina, and member secretary of Chittagong city community policing Wahid Siraj Swapan, among others, spoke.City Mayor A J M Nasir Uddin presided over the function.
