Gonoshasthaya Kendra Rapid test to Covid inaugurated

Gonoshasthaya Kendra Trusty Dr. Zafrullah Chowdhury on Saturday said the government ignored public health expert advices to contain coronavirus outbreak since the beginning and it was a grave mistake.
He said that government is liable for the anarchies and scam in coronavirus tests because it conducted without any thought and taking steps without thinking the consequences regarding the virus spreading.
Dr. Zafrullah said it after inaugurating Coronavirus Rapid test laboratory in the Gonoshasthaya Kendra in the capital’s Dhanmondi.
The freedom fighter Physician said that it will be better to accept Chinese CinoVac company’s trial proposal when it was ready.
“I had urged the government to accept the proposal without delaying. If they had accepted it then, our experts involved in the trial would have been enriched in knowledge. But the government accepted that after delaying two for months,” Dr. Zafrullah said. He said if the government initiated rapid antibody tests in the beginning as per the experts’ advices, it would have been helpful to contain the fatal virus.
Professor Dr. Nazrul Islam, former Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) inaugurated the center as a Chief Guest in the programme. Professor Dr. Layla Parveen Banu, Vice-Chancellor of Gono Bishwabidyalay presided over the programme.
Sandhya Roy, Trustee of Gonoshasthay Kendro, Virologist Dr. Bijon Kumar Sil, Professor Dr. Firoz Ahmed, Professor Dr. Brigadier General (Retd) Mamun Mostafee, Managing Director of Gonosasthaya Pharmacuticals, Gono Shasthaya Laboratory department Chief Mahbubur Rahman and Gono Shasthaya Press Advisor Jahangir Alam Mintu, among others, were present.
Officials said that about 200 samples would be tested everyday in the laboratory.
Professor Dr. Nazrul Islam said, highest attention must be given to every step of sample test.
Samples collection, preservation, tests and preparing result and keeping records, need utmost importance so that the laboratory can deliver a right report.
He also asked all to maintain highest safety measures for the workers involved in the tests.
Professor Nazrul Islam, Member of the National Technical Advisory Committee (NTAC) for Covid also suggested research work besides corona tests in the laboratory.
