Gonosashthaya Nogor Hospital on Saturday announced that it will treat cancer patients costing Tk 12,000 only.
Using electronic brachy therapy the hospital will provide such a cheaper costing medical services for poor cancer patients in the country.
The officials of the hospital said this at a seminar on Saturday organised to observe the world cancer day on February 4. Gonosashthaya Kendro Trustee Dr. Zafrullah Chowdhury presided over the programme.
Officials from the hospital said there are two different types of bracy therapy treatment are on use in generally.
One is the radionuclide therapy, which is widely in use. But the radionuclide therapy has hazardous radiations which create several health risks among the patients and surroundings. On the other hand, the electronic brachy therapy is a safer treatment system.
Jahangir Alam Mintu, Press Advisor of the Gonosashthaya Kendro, moderated the programme.
Professor Dr. Khorshed Alam, Dr. Samiul Maula, Professor Dr. M A Haye and Associate Professor Dr. Habib Ullah Talukder Raskin, among others, were taken part in the seminar.
