Gono Shashthaya Kendra distributed free foods among 33,500 poor families in the capital during the pandemic started since last year.
The organization distributed rice, atta, oil, pulses and other food items among the lower income group people like, day
labourers, rickshaw pullers, van drivers and the street vendors in different areas of the city.
Jahangir Alam Mintu, Media Advisor of the Kendra coordinated the food distribution programs.
He said, the Kendra distributed foods among 3,500 day earner families in last week on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
Among them, the Kendra distributed food aid to about 1000 families on July14 in Tejgaon, Mohakhali sattola Slum, Banani’s Karail Slum, Badda Satarkul, Rampura, Jatrabari, Mirajibagh, and in Keraniganj Riverview area.
They also distributed food packets containing rice, oil, lentils and others on July17 including National Pressclub and Photo Journalsits Association 250 packets, Shanir Akhra and Bashabo 250 packets, Dhanmondi about 300 packets and Kafrul 200 packets.
The Kendra also distributed food packets out of the capital including Sariakandi, Bogura 250 packets, Panchagarh 200 packets and Noakhali 200 packets.
Dr. Manzur Quadir, Chief Executive Officer of the Kendra said, the food assistance of Gono Shashthaya Kendra to be continued among the poor people during the lockdown until ending of the pandemic.
He urged the rich people to donate money to the Kendra’s aid fund to be a part of the food distributing programme to the poor.
