Gono Forum has expelled its leader and MP- elect Sultan Mohammad Mansur for taking oath as a parliament member violating the party’s discipline.
He was elected Member of Parliament in the December 30 election as Jatiya Oikyafront candidate with Sheaf of Paddy symbol. The party’s General Secretary Mostafa Mohsin Montu announced it in a press briefing at Gono Forum’s Arambagh office in Dhaka.
Mansur has also been suspended from the steering committee of the Jatiya Oikyafront.
Mansur on Thursday took oath as member of the 11th Parliament.
Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury administered the oath at Jatiya Sangsad at around 11:00am.
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), major components of political alliance Jatiya Oikyafront has slammed the taking of oath by Mohammad Mansur violating the decision of the Jatiya Oikyafront.
“He (Mansur) violated commitment by taking the oath. It is political fraudulence,” BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi told the reporters at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka.
“People accused of breach of commitment will be branded as enemy of the people,” said Rizvi.
However, Gono Forum’s another MP-elect Mokabbir Khan (Sylhet-2) did not take oath on Thursday.
On March 3, two Gono Forum MPs-elect sent separate letters to the Speaker expressing their desire to take oath on the historic March 7.
