UNB, Comilla :
As part of the blooming tourism in the country, the banks of the River Gomti in Comilla offer new possibilities of becoming a tourist attraction with several small entertainment centres dotting the riverside.
Gomti is one of the two main rivers of Comilla having all natural beauties just like many other rivers of the country. Entrepreneurs are building small recreational points here along with food stalls as private efforts. People from different places come here to enjoy the natural scenery of the riverside.
To make the place more attractive and comfortable, benches, shades and even cottages are arranged for the tourists here. Tea, coffee and light snacks can also be found here to satisfy hunger.
In the afternoon, especially during holidays, people gather here to enjoy the serenity of this place. Areas like Tikkachar, Palpara, Ratnabati and Chandpur are always crowded with visitors who come here to escape the busy urban schedule even if it is for a little while.
Md Abdul Hannan, owner of Gomti Coffee House and Resort in Banashua, said all arrangements are available to sit and enjoy the beauty of Gomti.
Urging the administration for help, the resort owner hopes to make the spot larger.
Comilla District Commissioner Md Jahangir Alam said if anyone personally wants to build a tourist attraction there, they will help them following the rules and regulations.
So for those who find city life and its concrete jungle too boring and feel the urge to relax their mind with fresh air, the Gomti riverside and its increasing tourist spots can be a wise choice to spend a day with family and friends.
