Golden Monir placed on 14-day remand

The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka yesterday placed Monir Hossain alias Golden Monir, who became owner of thousands of crores of Taka from a shop employee, on a 14-day remand in two cases (7-day each) filed against him under the Arms Act and Special Power Act with Badda Police Station of the city. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Bakar Siddique passed the order hearing in the cases on Sunday.
Golden Monir was arrested from his Banashree residence in the capital’s Badda area on Saturday morning in a drive. Law enforcers seized 699 bhori’s of gold, foreign pistol-shell, foreign liquor, currency of 10 foreign countries and 1.9 crore taka in cash from his residence.
According to the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Golden Monir is owner of more than 200 plots and flats in Dhaka and nearby areas. Primarily he confessed to having 30 plots and flats.
Law enforcers also seized luxurious two cars during the drive.
