Detective branch police of CMP recovered gold bars worth about Tk.7 crores and cash Tk.60 lakh after opening of three irons safes .
Police seized three iron safes from 6th floor of Bahar market of Reazuddin bazar in the heart of the city on Monday night.
Police sources said acting on secret information DB police conducted raid in 6th floor of Bahar maket on Monday night and seized three iron safe suspecting hidened gold bars there.
These iron safes were brought in Kotwali thana and opened in front of Districe administration Magistrate Ruhul Amin, sources said..
After opening 250 pieces of gold bar recovered from first iron safe, in second safe cash taka 60 lakh recovered and in 3rd safe nothing was found , sources said.
Police sources said the cost of 250 gold bars about Tk.7.50 crores at of Tk. 3 lakh of each bar. there was 100 bundles of Tk 60 lakh consists of Tk.60 thousand in each bundle.
Additional deputy commissioner o f police Babul Akhter told the media that police suspects that gold smuggling gangs kept these gold bars in the market . Police is investigating the matter of storing these gold and ascertaining the owner of these gold and none is yet to be arrested in connection till writing these report , sources said.
