A team of Customs Intelligence arrested a man along with 72 gold bars weighing 8.4kg worth about Tk 4.2 crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIAP) on Friday morning. The arrested person has been identified as Mohammad Azim Uddin, 45, son of Chenu Mia, hailing from Feni district, customs official said.

Umme Nahida confirmed the matter and said that Azimuddin came to Dhaka from Dubai by a Dubai Airlines at around 10:40am. Customs officials challenged Azimuddin when he was crossing the Green Channel in the airport area. They searched his body and recovered the gold bars from under his possession.
The AD said that the Azimuddin is being interrogated in this connection and filing of the case with the Airport Police Station is under process.
