A gold trader was chopped to death by miscreants in Atra area under Khan Jahan Ali Thana of the city on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Kamalesh Paul alias Kamal, 30, son of Amulya Paul, hailing from Atra area of the city. Ashraful Alam, officer-in-charge of Khan Jahan
Ali Police Station, said a gang of miscreants chopped Kamal in the area around 8pm while he was returning home, leaving him critically injured.
“Kamal fainted after reaching the local police outpost. Police took him to Khulna Medical College Hospital where he died due to profuse bleeding,” he added.
Kamal was the 11th victim, including district BNP’s organizing secretary Sardar Alauddin Mithu and Islami Andolan leader Iqbal Hossain alias Iqbal Hujur, in Khulna in last one month, reports UNB correspondent.
