Gold statues sold in Sylhet, fraudsters arrested

Detective police have arrested a member of a fraud ring in Sylhet on Monday from a home in the city. The arrested Idris Mia 38, sent to court on Tuesday.
Idris Mia is a resident of Chaktilak Saharpara village in Jagannathpur upazila of Sunamganj. A female resident of Pathantula area of the city deleted on charges of cheating. A woman named Rubina Begum has filed a case against Idris Miah. He has been shown arrested in that case. According to Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) sources, Idris Mia sold a bronze idol to Rubina Begum as gold about three months ago. A few days later, Rubina realized that he had cheated and wanted to talk to Idris about it. However, Rubina tricked another man into calling Idris to a house in Pathantula area of the city on Monday afternoon and informed the detective police.
Police later arrested Idris from the house.
It is learned that the brass statue recovered from Idris Ali was specially painted, which looked exactly like gold brass. Ordinary people will be mistaken for gold. Idris Ali took the opportunity. Last October, Idris sold it to Rubina Begum as a gold idol at a high price.
SMP’s Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) BM Ashraf Ullah Taher said Idris Ali was an active member of the gold fraud ring. The gang was cheating with simple people in Sylhet by cheating in various ways. He was arrested after receiving information from the detective police on Tuesday.
He said Idris had been sent to court today and police would apply for his remand. An inquiry will be held to find out who else is involved with him.
