Gold adds light to dark room

Once considered old-fashioned, gold is now back to adorn homes. Experts say there’s ennui with the stainless steel and chrome look and people are swinging towards warmer, sunny, burnished gold. The economic slowdown of the past decade had taken the sheen of this hue but people are opting for subtle opulence in their homes once again for a feeling of security. “Gold is the darling of feng shui as it brings prosperity. It also brings the powerful energy of the sun. Using gold in your home can bring happiness, prosperity and growth,” says SBS Surendran, feng shui expert.
The warmth of metallic, rustic gold is being used in furniture to add reflective texture and make the room feel bigger. Try some orante gold lighting on the walls or ceiling to add glamour in the living room, with some gold vases. Gold accents are a perfect way to add light to darker rooms.
India’s design heritage has always loved the interplay with gold though interior designers warn not to overdo it. Play with gold if you have a creamy neutral decor.
