Former international footballer and member of Abahani Limited Football team Golam Rabbani Helal died on Saturday in the city’s Square Hospital. He was 67.
He was suffering from brain hemorrhage, with heart and kidney complications.
He was admitted to the Square Hospital on Thursday last. He breathed his last there at 12.00 Noon.
Golam Rabbani Helal was a regular player of Bangladesh National Football team as well as of Abahani Limited. He was also a member of BJMC Football team.
He played for Abahani Limited from 1975 to 1988. After retirement from football, he became a director of Abahani Limited.
He played for Bangladesh Youth Football team at the Asian Youth Football Competition in Dhaka in 1978. He made his debut in the Bangladesh National Football team in 1979 and continued till 1985.
Helal became a member of Executive Committee of Bangladesh Football Federation in 2008.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell expressed his deep shock to the bereaved family.
