The National Goju Ryu Karate Kata Championship began at the gymnasium of National Sports Council on Saturday.
In the girls’ individual kata event, Nayeema Rahman Tisha bagged gold, Arian Morshed gained silver and Tasmima Islam Oishee earned bronze.
In the girls’ group kata event, Nafisa Islam, Arian Morshed and Ishika Meem secured gold. In the boys’ 30 kg cadet group, Syed Niamul Hossain begged gold, Adibur Rahman gained silver and Hasan Mahmud Shoaib earned bronze.
Earlier, Director of National Sports Council Narayan Chandra Debnath inaugurated the karate meet. Vice-Principal of Dhaka Commerce College Professor Md Shafiqul Islam, Associate Professor of Dhaka Commerce College Muhammad Nizam Uddin, Associate Professor of Dhaka Commerce College Faiz Ahmed and General Secretary of Goju Ryu Karate Association Khaled Mansoor were present at the time.
