Goethe-Institut Bangladesh has recently initiated the project, Young Choreographers’ Platform from Home, through sharing a series of contemporary dance choreographies through its Facebook and Instagram twice a week.
The project started at the beginning of May 2020, as Goethe-Institut Bangladesh invited a group of six contemporary dance choreographers to conceptualise, choreograph, and film their performances from home to get through the period of lockdown during that month.
Renowned German choreographer and dancer Tomas Bünger supported the choreographers through his online artistic direction from the city of Bremen, Germany. The choreographers were asked to film their performances using either natural sound in their respective surroundings or to perform along with live instrumental music.
By the end of May 2020, six choreographers submitted a total of seven recorded choreographies to the Goethe-Institut, which has been presented to the audience online through the Goethe-Institut’s Facebook and Instagram from June 14 through July 5.
The choreographers participated in this project were Snata Shahrin, Md Eashin Arafat, Sudeshna Swayamprabha, Ariful Islam Arnab, Anandita Khan and Bristi Bepari.
